About the Run - Remembering Vietnam

Race Location Run From The Ducks is an eight-hour timed event that is run on a 1.08 mile loop through Clark Botanical Gardens. Most of the course is either fine gravel or grass. All proceeds go to benefit the Vietnam War Museum. The race starts at 7 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24. Race registration can be done via edsregistration.com or by downloading the race entry form on this website and mailing it to Tony Mathison, 109 Snow Street, Bangs, TX 76823. Entry fee is $65.00. This year's race will be chip timed! You will pick up your chip race morning so please be at registration no later than 6 a.m. to avoid a line. |
There will be awards for first, second, and third overall male and female. Right now there is no limit to how many runners, but that could change if an unexpected number of entries floods in. If the race limit is not met by race day, race day registration will be accepted. The gates to Clark Botanical Gardens will open at 5:30 a.m. Runners will be allowed to drive back to the start/finish again this year to unload and be able to park in a parking lot close to the start/finish. There is almost no shade on this course and it got pretty hot last year. Plan on bringing headwear and sun protection clothing and lots of sunscreen. You can bring your own cooler with ice and drinks to supplement the aid station. Runners can set up their own area along the course. Where to StayLake Mineral Wells State Park For those who want to come in the night before, Lake Mineral Wells State Park is only about five minutes from the entrance to Clark Botanical Gardens. If you want to camp, reserve a spot now as they may be full by race day.
The Best Western has a block of 15 rooms saved in the name of “Run From the Ducks” at the rate of $??.95!! The rooms will be “blocked” until two weeks prior to the race.
